Asian-American Foundation of Oregon (AAFO)

a “Domestic Non-Profit Corporation which provides scholarships to students and funding for other Asian-American Cultural & Educational Non-Profit groups to help them with partial funding of their cultural and educational events and performance groups.
Membership benefits include the right to vote a the annual membership meetings, event announcements and newsletters. One time dues are $10 per person or $20 per family.
Bylaws of the AAFO provide that any person who supports the mission and activities of the AAFO, whose application is approved by the Board of Trustees of the AAFO, and who agrees to pay the required membership dues may become a member of the AAFO.

MISSION

To promote cultural understanding, mutual respect and friendship among all people by sponsoring Asian American cultural education activities, awarding (college) scholarship grants and establishing an Asian American Cultural Education Center in the Eugene/Springfield area.

Asian-American Foundation of Oregon

The AAFO was incorporated in 1993 as a public benefit organization under the Oregon Non-profit Corporation Act and qualifies as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, education and cultural purposes. The AAFO is supported entirely by volunteer staffing and is funded solely through fund raising activities such as annual auctions and donations towards scholarship awards.

SCHOLARSHIPS

POLICIES

The Asian-American Foundation of Oregon accepts applications for college scholarships that are awarded for the academic school year that begins in the fall of each year. The Foundation offers, two $1,000 scholarships, annually, for qualified applicants who have participated in Asian community & cultural event in Lane County, Oregon. 

The Asian American Foundation of Oregon (AAFO) scholarship grants will be made to encourage students who have demonstrated interest in Asian American cultural activities, to continue to participate in Asian American community and cultural activities which help support and promote the mission statement of the AAFO. You must be a resident of Oregon and a U.S. citizen to be eligible for this award. A minimum 2.5 GPA is also required, as well as an essay and letters of recommendation.

GRANT FUNDING FOR CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

The Asian American Foundation of Oregon welcomes grant applications/proposals to support Asian and Asian American organizations and individuals interested in developing and supporting cultural activities that meet the mission of the foundation.
